So, we walk into Vancouver Fashion Week with a goal to connect with our community- we donāt call ourselves Vancity Street & ignore such a congregation of fashion on Vancityās streets.
As we make it through the wall of Media itching for our photo, we meet A D A M: a local Designer showcasing a Collection.
When we witnessed the edgy, bold & futuristic aesthetic of A D A M Designs, we knew we needed fingers in him. We invited him to our editorial space; but little did we know the quality of aesthetic his designs would bring on-set.
& then it was all worth it.
āFASHION WAS KIND OF AN HAPPY ACCIDENT FOR ME. I GREW UP IN UNIFORMED SCHOOLS FOR THE LARGE PORTION OF MY YOUTH. IT ALWAYS STRUCK ME HOW CLOTHING CAN STRONGLY IMPACT ONES SOCIAL STANDING, SENSE OF COMMUNITY & AT THE SAME TIME TAKE AWAY THE AUTHENTIC SELF. I THINK THAT I CHOSE FASHION BECAUSE ITāS ALL ENCOMPASSING IN A SENSE THAT EVERYONE HAS NO CHOICE IN PARTICIPATING IN IT, IN A SADISTIC WAY, I ENJOY THE IDEA THAT PEOPLE WHO HAVE A DEEP DISDAIN FOR FASHION & ITāS CULTURE STILL CHOOSE TO WEAR CLOTHING.ā
Adam-Lin Bungag, Designer
Adam-Lin Bungag (Designer) is cheeky, but eloquent. His energy manifests straight into pieces which promote skin, piercings, tattoos & sex- although they are not sexually driven. His experience encourages him to challenge social norms by pushing the boundaries of āappropriateā. He encourages freedom of expression- an appropriate intention behind a sneaky mask of āinappropriateāā¦ character cheek that hints at certain realities surrounding his queer community.
