People come in & out of Vancouver all the time. Our soil has an open door policy to people of any race, sexuality or gender. FACT: Vancouver Drag culture is def one of the more advanced communities in North America. Cool? Surely. But kick it with us long enuf & you’re sure to catch onto a (widely) circulating community tag-line: NO-FUN-CITY.
Are people handed “fun”. Do children demand “fun”? NO. They make “fun” out of whatever they are interested in: dirt, cars….Barbies. Surely, adults should be expected to do the same. What are you interested in?
”Vancouver is a young city that celebrates many cultures, but at this point…perhaps it is void of its own. We offer energy to those who want to be part of the change.”
Krystal Klair, Co-founder of Vancity Street
If your favorite artist earned your loyalty because they inspired you to move through the trials and tribulations of life, they deserve celebrity status. No argument there. But who said that ‘A-List’ artists are the only creatives worthy of the term ‘celebrity’?
We are interested in fashion & style. Specifically the difference between the two. We love runway culture. Particularly how it needs to be more accessible to local street creatives. We admire performing talent & hope they find stages to practice their craft in a city (poorly) tagged: NO-FUN-CITY.
