Don’t lie. We all shamelessly follow celebrity culture. We even follow the ones we hate. Why? Because we love to hate them! Do we religiously follow them?

Ask yourself, your favorite celebrity: are they an actor, singer, rapper, artist? Probably. Did one of their creations get you through a challenging time in your life? Did you worship them the entire time?

If your favorite artist earned your loyalty because they inspired you to move through the trials and tribulations of life, they deserve celebrity status. No argument there. But who said that ‘A-List’ artists are the only creatives worthy of the term ‘celebrity’?

SPOTTED. Vancouver’s premiere showcase for underground street culture presents Vancity Street Week: Underground Runway next week â€˘ Oct. 23-25th, 2019. 3 days and over 30 designers, singers, rappers, dancers & visual artists.

Word on Vancity Street: we don’t curate this opportunity for money. It’s a struggle everyday to manifest what we need to even offer it. But our creatives inspire us to work through that struggle everyday because their work deserves to be seen, and we are on purpose when we offer a stage for their message. In our eyes, they deserve our worship. They are our celebrities. So…I guess that means we need some paparazzi.

“WE’VE REALLY TAKEN THE TIME & ENERGY TO CURATE THIS EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE ON VANCITY’S STREETS BECAUSE IN OUR EYES? EVERYONE IS A CELEBRITY.”

Krystal Klair, Project Manager at Vancity Street Week
